Deola Dada

Deola Dada Pilania (1611–1643) is a folk deity venerated by members of the Pilania Jat clan in the Indian states of Rajasthan and Haryana. He is worshipped as the Kuldevta (clan deity) of the Pilania community and is associated with Jhojhu Kalan, where his principal temple is located. His memory is preserved through religious observances, temples, devotional literature, and annual fairs.

Biography

Community genealogical records identify Deola Dada Pilania as the son of Ram Singh Pilania and Raj Kaur Pilania. He was born at Pilani, in present-day Jhunjhunu district of Rajasthan, in 1611.

Within the Pilania community, Deola Dada is commemorated for sacrificing his life during a confrontation at Jhojhu Kalan in 1643 while defending cattle. He is also remembered alongside his brothers, Pratap Pilania, Uday Pilania, and Ratan Pilania, who are honoured in the same tradition.
